During challenging times, as many of us have been facing as of late, I’ve been focusing on what I can control—including my mental and physical health. Yes, taking care of yourself is as important to solving climate change because this battle is a marathon, not a sprint. I’ve also discovered that substantial improvements in mental and physical health have had profound impacts on my life I never imagined. All that being said, I’ve set an audacious goal to lose 25 more pounds in 6 weeks. I’m sharing the note below that I just sent all of my friends because I need help, and maybe this will also help you.

Dear friends,
As some of you know/have realized, I’ve been on a weight loss journey the past 18 months. Yesterday, I did a checkup with my PCP and I weighed in at 225—a loss of 75 pounds—the least I’ve weighed since graduate school, or 15 years ago, and my BMI is officially in the healthy zone. It’s been a slog—no GLP-1s—purely diet and exercise.
I’m reaching out to you today because I need your help and I want to put an audacious goal out into the universe.
I’m 25 pounds away from reaching my ultimate goal of 200 pounds, or a total loss of 100 pounds. I’ve decided to focus on hitting this goal by August 8th, or 6 weeks from now. Why so soon?
🥾I depart for Europe on August 10th to hike the TMB—a total distance of ~110 miles and ~33k feet of cumulative ascent and descent over 11 days. I want to be in the best physical shape of my life when I hit the trail.
👨💻I need to hunker down and focus on the next chapter of CTC beginning of September, and will need to return to a balanced meal schedule and maintaining the weight vs weight loss, which is taxing mentally.
🏋🏻I’ve been hovering around the 20 yard line for a few months now, and I need to just suck it up and punch it in.
How can you help me reach this audacious goal?
